“Facebook” Is Most Searched For Term on Google

December 22, 2011 by · Leave a Comment

Article submitted by iClimber Social Media Blog

In 2011, like it’s been the case for the last three years, “Facebook” was the most searched for term on Google’s famed search engine. The news came by way of Experian Hitwise. According to the same people, “Facebook” made up a whopping 3.1 percent of searches. In the Top Ten searches, besides “Facebook,” there were also the Facebook permutations like “facebook.com,” and “www.facebook.com,” and “facebook login.”

That sound is a big Ouch! from Google, because Facebook not only outranks them in the social sphere, but Facebook’s success is being rubbed in their noses, in the words people are typing into their wonderful search engine. Of course, it could also be viewed as an back-handed compliment because the search queries demonstrate that Google’s engine has become an alternate URL bar.

If you watch television, the top “public figure” searches should come as no surprise. They included Justin Bieber, Casey Anthony, Kim Kardashian, Nicki Minaj, and Selena Gomez.

How Useful is Email Marketing?

November 13, 2011 by · Leave a Comment

The email marketing is not only the cheapest advertising option on the market, but also the most efficient one. This is not just a statement, but an actual fact. Try to sit down and take a look at the potential benefits of this technique. First of all, sending a message costs nothing, whether you want to send one or a thousand. Obviously, if you opt for an email marketing software, the price will be a little higher, but still below any other technique. The good news is that such a software can do anything for you. It will create specific mailing lists, provide newsletter templates, allow you to pre-write messages and send them at particular dates and so on. Basically, it is as good as an assistant.

Now, how efficient is the email marketing? According to most studies and statistics, it is the most efficient tactic. You have access to thousands of addresses, whether they are interested or not. Your messages are instant, especially if you consider the traditional printed media bulletins that take at least a few days to arrive. What about the business people? It is almost impossible to reach them on the phone. They are constantly talking, therefore an email message seems to be your main option. Besides, there are people who read their emails as often as they answer the phone. With the technologies today, most of them have cellphone alerts whenever they get a new message.

Comparing all these benefits, it is no doubt that email marketing is not just the most efficient, but also the most varied marketing technique.

Women cuts off Internet access in Armenia with a shovel

April 10, 2011 by · Leave a Comment

On March 28th, a 75-year-old woman in Georgia was trying to steal copper wires, while she accidentally cut off some fiber optic, which were responsible in carrying  most of Armenia‘s internet data. Consequently, most of Armenia and Georgia was without internet for about 12 hours.

Aishtan Shakarian the woman responsible for the crime lives in a small village near Georgian capital Tbilisi. Police arrested her, but she would probably not get a big punishment. Such crime usually has at least one year prison term, but police said due to her age, she may get off easy.

An alarm went off when the fiber optic lines were cut giving out the location of the problem. When the police arrived the woman was still digging with her shovel.  She admitted digging for copper wires to the police, which she was going to try and sell and make some money.

Apparently the internet lines are laid next to the rail road tracks that goes from Georgia to Armenia. They are underground and are pretty secure, but sometime land shifts may expose part of the wires, which is probably how the women came upon the wires.

Some internet companies in Armenia switched to alternate lines coming from Iran, but most were out for a period of 12 hours.

An Armenian telemarketing company representative said that this was not the first time such thing had happened. Last year something similar happened, but was not reported to the press.
