The Overwhelming Accessibility of Digital Images Versus Copyright Laws
December 20, 2011 by admin · Leave a Comment
Today, digital images flow with extreme fluidity anywhere you go on the internet. But a case in a Manhattan courtroom may set a precedent with very long-term ramifications for what is called “appropriation” in the fine arts’ world. Richard Prince is a collage artist who sits in the middle of the heavy litigation. Prince makes collages, by hand, of magazine pages and photographs that were created by others.
In March of this year, Judge Deborah A. Batts gave out a ruling stating that Prince had violated copyright laws by using pictures from a book to create collage pieces and selling them. The ruling clashes with the art culture of the younger generation, whose members see anything that’s on the Web as “raw material” for their work. The Prince case is being appealed and many institutions, including New York City’s Metropolitan Museum of Art have rallied to protect what they see as an assault on the idea of fair use.
Beat The High Cost Of Entertainment With A Customized Home Theater
November 7, 2011 by admin · Leave a Comment
Maybe you’ve taken your family out to the movies in recent times to see a feature film playing at a first-run house and gotten a case of sticker shock. Among the out-of-pocket expenses you’re footing the bill for may be parking, tickets to the theater and refreshments, which often cost more than the tickets. Maybe you had a light meal before the movie, or plan to have a snack afterwards. When the night’s tally for entertainment finally comes together you’re liable to find that you’ve spent a pretty substantial chunk of change.
It’s likely to be at the exact moment when you figure out the night’s final bill that you begin wondering about alternatives to the quite expensive night out at the movies. Sure, it’s great to have activities that the whole family can enjoy together. And since everyone loves the movies, it’s hard to give up this pricey family ritual.
But why not think a bit about home entertainment? If you could find a way to bring that big-screen entertainment into your home instead of paying for tickets to see it you’d save a bundle.
That’s why investing in a home theater might be just the right move for you and your family. You could stay at home, make your own popcorn, pour your own soda and enjoy films at home in the comfort of your private viewing space.
If that sounds like a lavish investment, you should look at how much you spend in a year for babysitters, parking, movie tickets, refreshments and other incidental expenses that come up when you go out to the movies. You just might find that a home theater would pay for itself in just a couple of years. And just think, you’ll get years and years of enjoyment out of your own private movie theater.
Choose a room in the house you’d like to devote to entertaining, and picture it with rows of home theater seats, a wide-screen video monitor, a terrific sound system and lights on dimmers that will give you the full movie theater experience. You could even set up a velvet rope at the entranceway to give the space a more exclusive ambience.
You can get as extravagant as you’d like with your choice of home theater chairs, which can range from the most basic to cushy, plush crushed velvet jobs with their own refreshment trays built in and full reclining and foot rest capability. How could you not be totally comfortable in a theater like that?
And best of all, it’s right in your own home. No need to drive anywhere and park. No need for babysitters. You can even install your own popcorn and drink machines if you’re so inclined.
Next time when the family wants to see a movie together, don’t think about going out — start planning for those family nights you’ll spend at the good old family homestead. You’ll enjoy it a lot!

Tools to Help with Email Marketing
July 17, 2011 by publisher · Leave a Comment
With more and more information being transferred by email in the modern business world as well in people’s everyday lives, Email marketing is becoming a more and more popular way for businesses to send promotional information as well as receive feedback from their customers. This is especially true with the do not call list blocking most phones from telemarketing. People also are able to receive and respond to emails almost anywhere on their smartphones, making email marketing a reliable way to get in touch with a consumer base.
Though email marketing most certainly has its perks, it can be daunting, especially for small business owners, to get an effective campaign going. Fortunately, marketing companies offer email marketing software to help businesses compose effective promotional email campaigns.
An effective marketing email, when composed through this software should be more enticing to consumers to respond to the message. By releasing a concise and eye pleasing promotional email, companies make it more likely that consumers will respond instead of just deleting it as spam. These software programs also allow companies to target specific markets in which their products will be more useful, also increasing the likeliness that consumers will respond.
Some promotional emails are simply meant to inform consumers instead of motivating them to action. For this, newsletter templates are offered. These offer eye pleasing and informative messages that make customers more likely to read them and have the information stick. They also allow companies to compose effective messages quickly on a regular basis.

Thanks to James Cameron and “Avatar”, 3D has made a comeback that no one thought was possible. The spate of 3D movies doesn’t look like it is going to stop and the euphoria has spilled onto TV screens as well. Several companies have and are in the process of releasing various versions of 3D TV’s. But the first standout unit is definitely going to be the LX9500 from LG.
The LG TV is going to be the world’s first with 3D, HD and an LED backlit LCD screen. This screen is the reason that LG will have a winner on its hands. This model also boasts 3D, HDMI, USB 2.0 and integrated Skype software as other features and with a 10,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio coupled with TruMotion 400Hz (480Hz) the picture quality can only be stunning.
The LG unit also comes with 3D glasses which, consumers will be glad to know, are USB powered. This means that you will no longer have to hunt for batteries or any such thing. Just hook up the glasses to the TV when you are done watching and they will start charging. According to reports, the 3D glasses have a battery life of 40 hours on a full charge and employ the shutter glass technique to give the best possible 3D viewing.
The LX9500 also has another nifty feature, it supports Multi Picture Format. So if happen to own a 3D camera, you don’t have to put the video onto your computer to convert it before watching. You can plug it directly into your TV and watch the footage just like you would with any other camcorder. The LX9500 is expected to hit stores in the U.S. in May.
Looking for a training video production company?
August 12, 2010 by publisher · Leave a Comment
Video production Boston is both an art and science much like most media-related disciplines. There is a process involved while on the other hand the creativity in finding the right actors, locations and even writing the perfect script can be both subjective and quite a handful for those who aren’t experienced in this line of work.
And this is where video production companies and their expertise come in handy, as most organizations that might at the top of their industry do not necessarily have the appropriate know-how to make a training video production that might be most suited to their needs.
Right from preproduction to production and then to post-production, the companies take care of everything at nominal costs, wile also coming in with years of experience whether it involves making corporate videos to advertisements to finding spots for direct response television for their respective clients.
One way or another, these companies know how to sell your product to the right people and know just how to launch your company’s new product as well. With professionals that have relevant experience in both the video and television business, both these talents can be combined to give their clients the edge over their competitors in a market that can only be described as ruthless.
And with the advent of digital video production fast becoming a reality, one doesn’t have to look very far to find a video production company that can deliver the very highest quality in a very short time.
Is fake lawn grass for your home?
August 12, 2010 by publisher · Leave a Comment
Synthetic grass has been around for decades in the form of surfaces for athletic events and has spread to several sports that would like to avoid player injury and consider an even surface to be good for the game.
Well, but there’s more than meets the eye amidst all the glamour and glitz in the form of cheerleaders and football jocks, as fake lawn grass can precisely used for more than just sporting events and is rather obviously being used as an able substitute for natural grass.
The reasons for its growing popularity can be traced back to the number of benefits that one can avail of in opting for synthetic lawn turf. Truth be told, each of these benefits can be categorized under money, time and energy better spent elsewhere.
And perhaps this is why folks are more accepting of the synthetic version as natural grass might look great and all but maintaining it can be a real pain, to the extent where it turns into a chore rather than a pleasant pastime.
The beauty of its synthetic form is that it comes with the option of infill which makes it just as realistic as natural grass, and if this isn’t enough, one can get a tax rebate on saving several gallons of water a year in opting for this type of grass as well.
Is fake lawn grass for your home? You bet it is.
The new Wireless Technology
July 29, 2010 by publisher · Leave a Comment
Have you ever left home in a rush, arrived at office, sat down and pulled out your mobile phone only to find out it’s almost out of power? Well that’s a situation most of us have experienced in one way or another. The most annoying thing is that probably nobody in the office brought a phone charger with them to work; or even if they did, it probably does not work with your phone model.
This type of situation could be a thing of the past if Qi really takes off. Qi is a wireless power standard brought about by the Wireless Power Consortium. This week, the consortium finally lay down their definition for the interface of the low power specification. Currently though, the details of the specifications are only available internally. However, come August 30th the entire world will be able to find out as the specs are made public.
The spec can hit a maximum of 5 Watts and if that seems like peanuts, consider this – most mobile devices need only 2.5 watts to recharge their batteries. Therefore, power-wise this standard is more than enough to keep consumers happy. Devices that want to make use of this technology will have to pass a few spec tests prescribed by the WPC. The final test will be done by third parties and thereafter, they will be allowed to display the Qi logo on the product.
The WPC is very insistent that this testing process is adhered to strictly, as it would enable consumers to build up trust on the name. To draw a parallel, having a Qi logo would be the same as saying “Has a USB port”. Consumers would know that any number of Qi branded devices they have will work with any other Qi branded wireless charger.
A New iPod Release?
July 1, 2010 by publisher · Leave a Comment
The iPhone just got here and people are either still gaga over it or have started their irritated ranting’s. Now Apple is getting ready to release an updated iPod in the near future. As near as fall that is.
Rob Henessey set the forums on fire with his musings on the next iPod. He said that the upcoming iPod Touch will feature a five megapixel camera with flash, HD video recording capabilities and a gyroscope. He also said that FaceTime would also be included. FaceTime is Apple’s own video call making app.
Sounds fantastical? Well nothing is improbable. U.K. retail giant John Lewis, the company for which Henessey works for as a buyer, attributed the comments to speculation. They also said that Henessey and Apple had had no direct contact or discussion about the device in question.
Although Apple has not responded to these claims, it could be the best thing the company can do to divert attention from the flawed iPhone 4G. The much hyped and much awaited product hit the shelves only to run into a host of bugs. The most notable of which is the poor call quality which basically renders the iPhone 4G into a very expensive iPod (much like the one described by Henessey). Apple has been trying to find a fix for this issue, but short of recalling and replacing all their products there doesn’t seem to be a proper solution.
Currently the only solution they have for users is, “Hold the phone the way we want you to”.
A New Kindle?
June 4, 2010 by publisher · Leave a Comment
If the rumors are true a new Kindle could be released in August. According to reports from Bloomberg News, a thinner Kindle with sharper picture quality could be in the offing. However, the report did not name the source of the news.
The device will not set the world alight in the same way the iPad has done. Instead it is supposed to focus on having a sharp display and being more responsive to the user’s needs. Basically this means that there is no touch screen or color display. The move is prudent in several ways; first of all it does address the threat posed by the Apple iPad which is rapidly eating into Amazon’s market. Next, it also does not try to be something it isn’t, at least not in a hurry. According to Amazon’s CEO Jeff Bezos, some new technology has been developed but has not been perfected yet. This could be why Amazon has not yet gone for a color reflective screen.
However, next year’s models could be vastly different. Along with a color reflective screen, the device could have touch screen technology included. It was reported in February that a company called Touchco had been purchased by Amazon. Touchco is a startup based in New York and involved with flexible multi-touch panels. This means that by next year, the Kindle could be a very fascinating device.
But all that is just conjecture. For now, Amazon appears to be concentrating on holding onto its base by giving its users what they need – a good reading device.
The Hurt is About to Get Worse
June 4, 2010 by publisher · Leave a Comment
With the news that LimeWire is about to go down in flames, others have found courage to hope. The movie industry has also been battling piracy just as much as the RIAA and the newest and most ambitious entrant in to this foray is Voltage Pictures.
Voltage is the independent production company that responsible for the Oscar winning “Hurt Locker”. The company is going after no less than five thousand John Doe’s in a lawsuit. The names of the persons are not known yet as the company has only been able to collect the IP addresses of the pirates. They want all those who downloaded the movie to delete it from whatever storage mediums they have it on and also pay up actual or statutory damages to cover the expenses of the lawsuits.
The plan seems ambitious and does reek a little of bitterness and money grubbing. It is ambitious because even a massive organization like the RIAA has not been able to succeed in this area. The fact that the movie didn’t make more than 16 million dollars at the home box office also could be due to the movie being downloaded and distributed. The lawsuit could be a way of recovering some of the lost revenue, although it makes Voltage look a little desperate.
The company’s co-founder, Nicolas Chartier, is not bothered by the bad press that may be generated because of this lawsuit. In fact he seems to be quite happy to meet it and will probably find a way to use it to his own benefit.
